N.A.S.A. (aka Squeak E. Clean (aka Sam Spiegel, Spike Jonze’s brother) and partner-in-crime DJ Zegon) are the Handsome Boy Modeling School of party records, as in getting the supremely talented together into a room to play amongst the top-notch beats and sterling production. I sound like an infomercial, but ever since the soundtrack to Judgement Night dropped during my high school days, I've always been fascinated with the "unexpected team-up" projects.

RCRDLBL just posted the Villains' raved-out remix of Whachadoin?, focusing mainly on M.I.A. and Spank Rock's contributions to the track.

Straight outta Milano, Congorock's (aka Rocco Rampino) latest "Runark" just dropped from the current cream camp known as Fool's Gold. Currently described as four-and-a-half minutes of breakbeat thump and raved up 8-bit synth drops, you can grab the single from the fine folks at RCRDLBL.

Or grab the entire release from Turntable Lab. The single comes backed with an amazing extended remix by Jokers Of The Scene as well as two more new Congorock tunes, “Exodus” and “Hybro.” The digital release also features an additional Runark remix by His Majesty Andre.

I just have to point out (in the above photo) that that mofo has an Evolution UC-33e AND a Monome AND a Jazzmutant Lemur in action. If you can't see the hardcoreness of that, you're doing it wrong.

I was perusing the daily fare at RCRDLBL, and came across this Gui Boratto track. I can't ever say that I had a period when this sort of dance music was my steez. However, tracks of all shapes and sizes can rise above their own niche and grab at something within at such a basic level that you simply can't help but be totally enthralled. You might have caught Radioclit's (French Remix) of Architecture in Helsinki's single "That Beep." Where that remix retained a lot of the original's pop charm and organic instrumentation, this new (Swedish Remix) is a definitely a more straight drum-laden affair, stripping the track down into a bubblegum dancefloor workout.

DRLKT FREDDIE

Signed to DANR Music, Drlkt Freddie is a new production team/live act, comprised of DJ, producer and songwriter Van Scott and engineer and producer Jad Cooper. The group's first official release is a remix of "You've Changed," a classic vocal anthem by Lauren Flax featuring Sia, out on March 24, 2009. Other upcoming work includes remixes of new tracks by Princess Superstar and Junior Sanchez, which are both coming out on DANR Music.

Drlkt Freddie's first two original releases, "Airtight" (a French pop-influenced feel good jam) and "Blood" (a twisted, distorted bass and synth stomper), are set for release in late Spring/early Summer with a high-caliber set of confirmed remixers TBA.

Drlkt Freddie remixed "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga and transformed it into a wobble-bass banger!

I don't know if I'd have traded a Canon G9 for the Dunks, but I am going to the first showing of Coraline to get a shot at a pair of those tasty tasty limiteds.



Plus, I just really like Neil Gaiman (my first tattoo I got was his most famous of characters "Morpheus" of the Sandman comics (and the namesake of a certain Cowboy Curtis)), so I've been looking forward to seeing the flick anyhow.

In a way, I'm glad I wasn't that guy... I'd have probably traded a camera in exchange for the Dunks as well.
